§ 10-13. Sale of animals.

  • (a)

    No person may sell or offer for sale any animal from a business establishment other than a licensed kennel or pet store.

    (b)

    In any calendar year a maximum of 14 permissible animals may be given away or offered for sale per residential dwelling unit, regardless of the number of adult animals maintained. At no time shall a dwelling unit be allowed to have more than the maximum number of permissible animals allowed under section 10-12.

    (c)

    No person may sell or offer for sale:

    (1)

    Any animal at a flea market, outdoor market, garage sale or yard sale;

    (2)

    Any animal decorated by tinting, dyeing, decaling, or otherwise altering such animal in an unnatural manner for promotional purposes;

    (3)

    Any chicken, duck or other fowl less than three months of age; or

    (4)

    Any dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig or ferret less than eight weeks of age.

    (d)

    It is a violation of this chapter for any person to sell or offer for sale any animal prohibited to be sold or offered for sale as provided by this section.
