§ 14-86. Insurance requirements.

  • Any contractor as defined in section 14-71 shall provide to the building official evidence of workers' compensation coverage and proof of public liability and property damage insurance coverage as required or recommended by law, rule or regulation of the state prior to issuance or renewal of a certificate of competency. If state law, rule or regulation does not apply to a contractor category, the insurance requirements shall be the same as those established by state law, rule or regulation for a residential contractor. The insurance requirements may be satisfied by the contractor filing an original certificate of insurance with the building official or the insurer sending a copy of such certificate directly to the city's facsimile receiver, with the city named as the certificate holder.
