§ 70-39. Regulation of fire lanes.
(a)
Prohibited parking. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or allow a vehicle to be stopped, left standing or parked on any established fire lane within the city.
(b)
Authority to establish fire lanes. The chief of the fire department of the city is hereby authorized to erect signs establishing fire lanes within the city which shall be plainly marked, restricting or prohibiting the stopping, standing or parking of vehicles upon designated fire lanes within the city.
(c)
Criteria for fire lanes:
(1)
All fire lanes shall be designated by a solid yellow line around border, including curbing.
(2)
Fire lanes shall use striping a minimum of four inches wide.
(3)
The wording "fire lane" shall be printed on the road surface with no more than 25-foot spacing between words.
(4)
Erected signs shall be 12 inches by 18 inches stating "No Parking—Fire Lane" and shall be designed with white background with red bordering and lettering.
(d)
Enforcement and penalties. The owner of any vehicle found stopped, standing or parked in violation of this section may be cited in accordance with existing procedures provided by section 70-33.
