§ 74-182. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Backflow prevention device means a device designed to prevent contamination of the potable water system from any other piping system such as the reclaimed water system.

    Billing means the charge made for reclaimed water service. The charge shall be included on the monthly utility bill.

    City manager designee means the individual responsible for the technical and operational activities of the reclaimed water program.

    Cross connection means any physical connection or arrangement which could allow the movement of fluids between the potable water system and any other piping system, such as the reclaimed water system.

    Customer means the actual user of the reclaimed water.

    Director of public utilities (also referred to as the director ) means the individual responsible for the technical and operational activities of the public utilities department of the city.

    Discontinuation of service means cessation of a service or an appropriate method to ensure that no service can be received.

    Distribution mains means those conduits or pipes used to supply reclaimed water to service lines from transmission lines.

    Division means the field operations division of the public utilities department of the city.

    PVC means polyvinyl chloride pipe.

    Rates means those charges assessed based on actual usage plus a base charge as approved by the city council as outlined in the rate resolution.

    RPD means reduced pressure device.

    Service line means that conduit for reclaimed water from the distribution main to the customers meters.
