§ 78-31. Definition.

  • As used in this article, the term "taxicab" shall mean a motor vehicle designed for carrying passengers, not operating on rails or on a fixed route, and which carries passengers for hire to destinations directed by the passengers and/or subject to call for pickup of passengers at points directed by such passengers; and the operator of which has a fixed place of business or terminal in the city for the operation of such business. The occupation of a taxicab stand in the city by a taxicab shall be conclusive evidence that such business is operating in the city.
