§ 82-43. Definitions.

  • For purposes of sections 82-42 through 82-45, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:

    Impoundment means the release of a vessel from its mooring and towing of the vessel to a storage facility.

    Liveaboard vessel means any vessel used solely as a residence or any vessel represented as a legal residence. A commercial fishing boat is expressly excluded from the term "liveaboard vessel."

    Mooring means the anchoring, tying or securing of any vessel to prevent or restrict its movement.

    Vessel means every description of watercraft, barge or boat capable of being used as a means of transportation on water.

    Waters of the city mean any navigable waters lying within the territorial limits of the city, excluding ponds or lakes unconnected to the Halifax River by navigable waters.
