§ 58-36. Permitting and construction criteria.

  • The review of permit applications and completion of work under permits issued pursuant to this article shall be subject to the following criteria:

    (1)

    All installations under or across paved streets shall be made by boring and jacking, except where unusual circumstances or conditions preclude such installation, or where open cutting is approved in writing by the city manager or his designee. The city reserves the right to prohibit open cutting of pavement.

    (2)

    All work shall be performed to minimize the obstruction of streets, sidewalks and bike paths. The city reserves the right to prohibit work during specified times of the day or seasons of the year and to impose other conditions necessary for public safety and convenience, including the requirement for 24-hour construction to complete work as soon as possible.

    (3)

    All work shall be completed in conformance with adopted standard construction details of the city, including, but not limited to, the actual construction, restoration and clean-up of the area.

    (4)

    The permittee shall provide barricades, warning signs and beacons, and traffic control as required by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
