§ 74-248. Irrigation systems, existing and new.

  • (a)

    Backflow prevention devices acceptable to FDEP and in conformance with the 2010 City of Port Orange Manual of Cross Connection Control shall be installed by a licensed plumbing contractor under a plumbing permit issued for construction and connection of a new irrigation system to the city's potable water system. Such device shall be installed within five feet and on the customer side of the potable water meter.

    (b)

    Backflow prevention devices acceptable to FDEP and in conformance with the 2010 City of Port Orange Manual of Cross Connection Control shall be installed on existing irrigation system connections to the city's potable water system by a licensed plumbing contractor within five feet and on the customer side of the potable water meter.

    (c)

    Upon installation of a backflow prevention device to a new or existing irrigation system, the device shall be tested by a certified backflow prevention tester licensed to operate within the city or within the governmental entity where the property is located. Thereafter, the device shall be tested annually in accordance with section 74-249.
